Repurpose old tv console to fireplace media center

I found this old console tv at a thrift store the owner had it sitting outside waiting to bring it to the dump.  He told me if I wanted it I could have it...  

I took the tube out and all the guts from the tv.. and my plans are to make a DIY fireplace.

Here I have started painting and I added a shelf with item laying around the house... used an old bookshelf and cut a small board of 2x6  with 2  foot long and one 6 in and glued them down with a strong wood glue.

 

Almost done!!! 

Finished project.. Here I used tile to decorate it...
